Rise of the machines - a threat or a fantasy?

Prospects for the development of the digital economy have become the main topic of discussion at various business and economic forums, conferences and events. The International Labor Forum, which took place on March 1-2 in St. Petersburg, was no exception.
Work of the future: talents, technology, creativity; advanced socio-economic development through the development of human potential are the main topics of the forum. The forum was attended by representatives of the executive and legislative power branches, as well as managers, HR specialists, educational institutions, experts in the field of labor protection, labor law, social and migration policy.
The forum was addressed by the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, the deputy chairman of the Russian government Olga Golodets, the governor of St. Petersburg Georgiy Poltavchenko. Speakers noted the fundamental role of new technologies, robotization, the need to modernize the education system.
According to the data provided by the Governor of St. Petersburg G. Poltavchenko, the city has one of the lowest unemployment rates - 1.5%; the average salary over the last year increased by 12%; the number of people employed in the IT sector has almost doubled over the past few years, while in the financial sector the increase was 68%.

Issues of changing the labor process and the institution of professions were actively discussed at the forum: replacing jobs with robots, the emergence of new professions in the labor market, the challenges of digitalization. The situation near the stands with description of new professions was lively and controversial. During the session “Digital HR Solutions”, the developers presented progressive developments: the potok system for recruitment automation, the Geocon time tracking service, the mobile application - corporate media in a smartphone from Digital Design.


As part of the HR hackathon, there were proposed to develop relevant topics in the field of HR management automation. For example, chat-bot to collect feedback after the interview; service for greeting and familiarization a new employee with the company and responsibilities; Mobile application to engage employees in the life of the company and increase employer brand loyalty.
